What do you eat first ?

I enjoy eating Thalis for the diverse food and nutrients that it offers.
I recently visited a Thali restaurant and loved the experience.
The waiter started the meal with a Kesar Sharbat, buttermilk and slowly served the salad, chutneys, appetizers, main course, and the dessert.
Each of us on the table ate the meal in a different sequence. Seeing the ones starting with the sharbat and the dessert, I thought to myself, “Imagine the sugar rush she would have right in a few moments. And the chaotic blood sugar graph I’d be seeing were she using a CGM device.”
I saw people starting with buttermilk, some with salad, etc.
And it struck me that a layman does not bother at all about the impact of food it creates on his/her body. We just eat to feel happy, feel full.
I have never even heard a doctor dealing with a Diabetic patient or a patient with insulin resistance explain the order at which one should be eating food. And this isn’t only for people facing certain health issues. Stable blood sugars, preventing glucose spikes is something every human body should strive for. Because fluctuating sugars can create havoc in your body and can be extremely dangerous in the long run.
The order at which you eat every food group impacts your glucose spike, satiety levels, post meal energy levels and your overall efficiency.
Ever thought about this?
More on this in my next post.
