Client: Yes, I have stopped sugar for a year. I add jaggery to my tea.
Surprisingly, there is a huge population of India that still thinks that alternatives like brown sugar, jaggery, honey are better than white sugar for weightloss, better glucose control or generally as a part of lifestyle.
They are not!
#Brownsugar, #whitesugar, #jaggery, #honey is ALL THE SAME.
A miniscule percentage of minerals that’s present in some of these is so small that it does not really give you any nutrient boost, just #emptycalories
Yes, #refinedsugar is processed but the amount of #calories and #sucrose the other alternatives give you are more or less the same.
So if you’re a #diabetic, trying to #loseweight, cut down on carbs, cut down on #calories, avoid #sugar to reverse #pcod , #highcholesterol or any other health concern, please know that these are all the same and will make none to negligible difference on your #fitness journey.
Do not comfort yourself by thinking that you are doing better by replacing the sugar in your #tea with jaggery. If you want to cut down on sugar, CUT DOWN, don’t look for other forms.
